Installing the Tibco TRA 5.x software on Ubuntu 10.04 goes smoothly, however when you try to run Tibco Designer you may receive following error:
./designer: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
The solution is worked out here by bootstrapping in his blog:
Difference is that we muse use the /usr/lib instead of the /usr/lib32 folder in his example.
dpkg-deb -x ia32-libs_2.7ubuntu6.1_amd64.deb ia32-libs
sudo cp ia32-libs/usr/lib32/libstdc++.so.5.0.7 /usr/lib/
sudo ln -s libstdc++.so.5.0.7 libstdc++.so.5
Now you are able to run Tibco Designer, but it could be that when opening a project you see a full grey screen with no project explorer, pallettes, canvas, etc.
This has something to do with the fact that Tibco Designer doesn’t like the fancy Ubuntu Visual Effects.
The only solution I’ve found is to make sure the Visual Effects are disabled.
